Texas Democratic Party
During the 2020 Election and the 2021 Texas Legislative Session, I was Lead Videographer for the state party. When the pandemic hit and everything moved to digital, I was on the team that put on the largest state Democratic convention in the country that raised nearly $2 million and generated national attention for flipping Texas blue.
With our wild success in the digital space with the state convention, the party made a huge investment in video and livestream content for the 2020 election cycle. Our video team made informational and engaging video content, livestreams, and fundraising events for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Fundraisers and
Live Events
At the Party, we held a number of live and pre-recorded events and fundraisers. For these, our video team produced them from start to finish, creating any graphics and videos needed, and ended up raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Party for the 2020 election cycle.
"COVID-19 forced the party to hold its state convention online. But that did not stop the party’s momentum. Democrats broke their daily and monthly fundraising record and raised $2 million during the week-long event."
- The Dallas Morning News
"The Texas Democratic Party set massive digital fundraising records during its convention last week—the first large-scale virtual convention of its kind—with the donation amount on Friday alone more than doubling the amount of digital fundraising the party ever collected in a single month, as polls have shown a tight race in the state between President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden."

"Whatever happens Tuesday [Nov. 3], Democrats have put the Lone Star State in play."

The Online 2020 Texas Democratic Convention
The COVID-19 pandemic caused everything to shut down and pivot to digital. This forced us to move the 2020 state convention online, and we expanded it from a few days to a whole week. We upped the number of panels and digital events and trainings to fill in the week, and our video team filmed dozens of panels, ads, and informational videos for attendees.
I ran a team of a few other video editors, and with my video director we put together 4 days worth of panels for a total of about 24 hours worth of video content that we livestreamed to Facebook. Throughout the whole week, we were able to raise close to $2 million that allowed us to vastly expand our operations for the rest of the 2020 election cycle and got us within 6 percentage points of flipping Texas blue.
